KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT SCIENTIST

Our continued growth is directly dependant upon the ability of our research organization to obtain, manage, share and transfer pertinent scientific knowledge efficiently and effectively.  We require an individual who is capable of working on multiple project teams as a scientific resource consultant to develop and guide this information process. The training and skills that candidates must possess include an advanced degree in the biological/physical sciences or chemical/material engineering disciplines, demonstrable proactive leadership experience and in-depth knowledge of appropriate database and e-information sources of scientific information. We seek an innovative facilitator who is currently affiliated with a knowledge driven culture; a collaborator, capable of enabling learning by building appropriate links between scientists and information resulting in innovative technology and products. Advanced training in information science and an understanding of the human side of managing knowledge are desirable.

PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST

CLINICAL RESEARCH

We are seeking an expert in pigment biology or photobiology who can advance our knowledge and link laboratory research to clinically defined improvements of consumer skin problems. As a member of our skin research team, you will have an opportunity to work with other scientific experts in many fields including cell biology, biochemistry, measurement science and physical chemistry. You will establish and maintain close ties to research in academic and government research communities.

 

CONSUMER SCIENCE

CONSUMER ANALYST

Position code: CSCA-NIH

Requirements: Ph.D. in Sensory Evaluation, Psychological or Biological Science, and 1-2 years relevant experience in sensory science research. Must have demonstrated ability to design and execute consumer science studies.  The purpose of this position is to advise/assist in the design of consumer sensory studies and to execute these studies with minimal supervision.  These studies will assess the hedonic and consumer perceptions of skin/hair condition and skin/hair formulation technologies, especially those relevant to improving skin/hair condition.  This position requires a knowledge base in consumer science practice - especially qualitative and quantitative research methods and experience with data acquisition and analysis techniques. 

 

PRINCIPAL RESEARCH BIOLOGIST

SKIN BIOSCIENCE

BIOINFORMATICS

There is a vacancy for a Principal Research Biologist in the Skin Science Unit, specifically in the area of genomics and bioinformatics.  The individual will study the impact of life stages and product application on gene expression in skin.  This will involve the design, experimentation and critique of results, as well as communication of this data to research and business colleagues.  The position requires ability to work independently, considerable computer and statistics skills, and ability to evaluate the literature, establish new methods, and to work collaboratively.  It is also important that the individual can handle and interpret large quantities of data from array analysis, relate this data to skin physiology, biochemistry, and cell biology, and propose new routes to benefit based on the knowledge arising from arrays.  The latter responsibility will require ability to implement and use best bioinformatic practices therefore, computer and data management skills are essential.  The qualifications include PhD in genetics/molecular biology or a related bioscience subject, experience in DNA manipulation, and the use/interpretation of gene arrays, bioinformatics skills, excellent computer skills, excellent data management skills, good written and oral communication skills.  Experience in the biology of skin and skin cells would be a distinct advantage.

There is a vacancy for a Principal Research Biologist in the Skin Bioscience Unit, specifically in the area of genetic linkage.  The individual will study the genetic control of unhealthy skin features.  The position requires ability to work independently, evaluate the literature, establish new methods, and to work collaboratively not only with other members of the project team but also to develop relationships with leaders in this field who are outside of Unilever.  The qualifications include PhD in genetics, experience in DNA manipulation, and the use/interpretation of genetic data, as well as a sound understanding of biological systems, excellent computer and data management skills.
