Would you like to reach 4,000 of the world's top postdoctoral scientists?
The National Institutes of Health's Office of Intramural Training and Education (OITE) and the Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) are co-sponsoring the Job Fair for NIH Postdoctoral, Research, and Clinical Fellows, held annually in conjunction with the Research Festival at the National Institutes of Health.
Last year's event attracted 42 exhibitors and an estimated 1,000 fellows. Among the comments we received are: "We were impressed with the quality of the applicants, we would definitely like to return," and "This is the best opportunity to meet top scientists!" We are pleased to invite your company to participate in this year's program, scheduled for Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Natcher Conference Center on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. This program provides an opportunity for representatives from industry, government, the academic community, and nonprofit organizations to meet a large contingent of NIH postdoctoral, research, and clinical fellows. Many of these fellows are approaching completion of their research training and are seeking permanent employment in the broader scientific community.
Participants in this year's Job Fair will have access to more than 4,000 postdoctoral, research, and clinical trainees—historically, about 15 percent of the biomedical fellows in the United States are trained in NIH intramural laboratories. Their research experience ranges from cutting-edge basic science to clinical investigation and the development of drugs, methods, and technologies. While many of these young scientists are interested in pursuing careers in biomedical research, a significant number are also considering science-related careers or alternative career opportunities.
Postdoctoral, research, and clinical fellows trained at the NIH have traditionally become leaders in biomedical research. Many of today's trainees will follow in their footsteps, but a significant number are also interested in careers in other occupational areas where their outstanding training, creativity, and skills would be an asset.
There is no fee for exhibitors at the Job Fair, but space is limited and early confirmation regarding participation is highly recommended. Organizations wishing to recruit at this year's Job Fair are required to apply online by September 19, 2008. You will be asked to describe your company briefly and provide a description of the positions for which candidates are being sought. If you have questions, please contact:
