Director, Human Resources
The person in this position will be expected to be a strategic partner with the management team in planning, staffing and developing PanVera's rapidly growing workforce. TM’s sell PanVera’s proprietary products, focusing on drug metabolizing enzymes, proteins and HTS assays to pharmaceutical/drug discovery companies on a direct-sales basis (70% of focus). TM’s also sell our Life Science products direct and manage dealer sales reps as an extension of our direct sales force in the Life Science market (30% of focus). Development Scientist, Fermentation (Bacterial Fermentation & Recombinant Protein Expression)
This position offers the opportunity to work in an exciting environment on the expression of drug target proteins for high throughput screening and structural studies by PanVera’s pharmaceutical customers. In addition, the qualified candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of innovative multiplex approaches for increasing throughput in bacterial expression optimization and production methods. Responsibilities include: doing production and development fermentation runs for expression of recombinant proteins in controlled fermentors; maintaining fermentation lab equipment; contributing toward process improvements for optimal expression of soluble eukaryotic proteins; performing standard biochemical assays (e.g. protein & DNA concentration determinations) and characterization techniques (e.g. gel electrophoresis & immunoblots); maintain a laboratory notebook in good order; participation in multidiscipline, group development projects. Protein Development Scientist
This role involves the expression, purification, and characterization of recombinant proteins. This position will report to the manager of Contract Manufacturing and will participate in the development and manufacture of protein based products. Successful candidates will perform expression, purification, and assaying of recombinant proteins in Bacterial and Mammalian systems. The ideal candidate will possess BS/MS in Biochemistry or related relevant field including ≥ 4 years demonstrated work experience in protein expression and purification. Individuals should be self-motivated, adaptable, independent, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with large-scale purification and/or molecular biology techniques is highly desired.
Cell Culture Scientist
PanVera has an immediate opening for a Cell Culture Scientist to work in the eukaryotic culture facility. The ideal candidate would have a B.S./M.S. in biochemistry or a related field. Specific duties include: maintenance of cell stocks, transfections, viral titering, optimization of recombinant protein expression, and design of large production runs. This person will be able to interact with other scientists in multidisciplinary projects by is expected to work independently. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience working with mammalian or insect cell (baculovirus) cultures, should be self-motivated, have the ability to work cooperatively in the lab, and maintain a laboratory notebook in good order.
Lab Assistant (Part-time)
The person in this position will be responsible for keeping the laboratory stocked with clean glassware and preparing the laboratory’s reagents. Specific duties include: collecting dirty lab glassware and cleaning according to PanVera’s standard methods; sterilizing (autoclave) specific glassware for cell culture applications, common laboratory consumables, including pipet tips, glassware, and plasticware; preparation of common buffer solutions, media broths, and media agars; routine checks and log entries on freezer/refrigerator temperatures, safety equipment, water quality, etc.; general lab neatness, including laboratory trash collection; additional responsibilities possible, including laboratory work. The Shipping/Receiving Representative will be responsible for shipping and receiving functions at PanVera. Primary duties are picking, packing and readying shipments to customer; kit packaging; and receiving and distributing goods. Qualifications include: three years experience working in a warehouse capacity with perishable products; business computer experience and understanding of inventory management; ability to lift and transport up to sixty pounds; and have good eyesight and manual dexterity for computer and mouse work.
