Well-being activities

OITE offerings, including guided meditation programs, journaling groups, and monthly community building activities to support you.

About the activities

Offerings in the OITE are grounded in the science of positive psychology and evidence-based interventions known to increase well-being and resilience. We offer three on-going activities to support you in cultivating your well-being and resilience skills.

Activities are announced via email and listed on our upcoming events page.

Activity types

Journaling for career development and personal growth

Journaling is a great way to tune into your thoughts and emotions, work through challenges, and support your goals. The OITE sponsors a bi-weekly online journaling group to support you in starting or maintaining a journaling practice. Each meeting includes four prompts with a focus on:

  • warming-up
  • professional development
  • self-reflection and resilience
  • gratitude and joy

Whatever your goals -- to feel happier, manage stress, think more clearly, get to the next chapter in your life -- making time in your busy life to journal can help you get there.

Journaling groups meet virtually every other Tuesday from 4:00-5:00 pm ET; meetings and journaling topics are advertised in OITE emails and listed on the upcoming OITE events page.

Guided Meditation

Meditation can give you a sense of calm focus that can benefit your emotional well-being and health. OITE drop-in meditation groups offer NIH trainees and fellows an opportunity to gather virtually for a guided meditation. Each 30-minute session begins with a few minutes of instruction followed by 20-25 minutes of meditation practice. This group is open to both beginners and experienced meditators.

Guided meditations take place on Zoom and occur weekly on Mondays at 5:00 pm ET, Tuesdays at 12:00 pm ET, and Wednesdays at 12:00 pm ET.

Sessions are advertised in OITE emails and listed on the upcoming OITE events page.

Monthly Community Events

Social well-being adds to a holistic sense of wellness. The OITE offers monthly events that promote community wellness. Past events have included: vision boarding, science improv, yoga, popsicle day and much more! Many events take place on many NIH campuses in collaboration with IC training offices. Email us if you have ideas for an up-coming event.
