Visiting Fellows Committee (VFC)

Connecting international visiting fellows in the NIH Intramural Research Program.

The Visiting Fellows Committee (VFC) provides a warm and welcoming community where international trainees and fellows gather to share experiences, support one another, and find friends. The VFC sponsors seminars, community-building activities, career topics, networking lunches, and social activities for all Visiting Fellows. Some events are virtual allowing trainees at all campuses to participate.

The VFC is open to graduate students, postdoctoral, clinical and research fellows across the entire intramural research program.

  • VFC meetings are the last Friday of each month at 11am-12pm in Building 2, room 2W15 (zoom link available upon request).

VFC subcommittees and liaisons

The Social subcommittee connects visiting fellows to help them to find a community away from home. Typical events include monthly get-togethers, museum visits, hiking, kayaking, and more. Subscribe to the VFC listserv for announcements.

Seminars on topics such as immigration, healthcare, banking, funding, career progression, and US culture, to help Visiting Fellows thrive at NIH. These hybrid events run every other month, upcoming session can be found at OITE events page.

Sessions to identify international research and funding opportunities and to stay in touch with the world-wide scientific community. Speakers include NIH Visiting Fellow alumni, research/funding organizations, and embassy representatives.
