Science Skills Boot Camp: June 2, 2017 (Bethesda Campus)

Special Event: Orientation; Science Skills

Jun 02, 2017

Speaker(s): Courtney Kurtyka, PhD
This event is recommended for: Summer Interns.

This one-day training program is designed for NIH summer interns with little or no prior research experience. Come develop the skills you need to be successful in science! Get acquainted with NIH research culture. Learn about different tools and techniques commonly used in research. Discuss how to approach a research project and what makes a good research question. And, get useful and practical tips on giving group meeting, keeping a notebook, and reading scientific papers. Workshops will include both lecture and interactive activities. You can find more information in the Science Skills Boot Camp website. Please refer any questions about this event to Dr. Courtney Kurtyka.

Registration for the Science Skills Boot Camp on June 2nd, 2017 in Bethesda Campus is now open! If you do not have access to your NIH email account yet, please create a guest OITE account using your personal email address to register. There will be two additional dates to attend for the Bethesda Campus: June 16th and 20th. Please register for the appropriate date under upcoming events.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • If you already have research experience, please attend an OITE Orientation for Summer Interns instead of Boot Camp.
  • If you have little or no research experience, please attend the Science Skills Boot Camp instead of an OITE Orientation.
  • Your Institute/Center may also offer an orientation. This is NOT the same as the OITE Orientation. Contact your Summer Coordinator for information and be certain to attend.
