Finding Mentors and Building Networks

Discussion Group/Brown Bag: Academic Careers; Teaching/Mentoring; Networking Opportunities

Dec 01, 2017

Speaker(s): Helene Rosenberg Mark Histed
This event is recommended for: Graduate Students.

Successful individuals have indicated that they often have more than one mentor that has been crucial to their career development. In response to this interest, we at the Graduate Student Council have set up a lunch for graduate students to meet and interact with principal investigators and fellow graduate students. This lunch aims to provide an opportunity to develop relationships with mentors in an informal setting.

We will be holding our first "Finding Mentors and Building Networks" Lunch on Friday, December 1 from 12-1pm in the Graduate Student Lounge (Building 10, Room 1N263; please see attached map). This event will feature two principal investigators with strong reputations in mentorship: Dr. Helene Rosenberg (NIAID) and Dr. Mark Histed (NIMH). Dr.Helen Rosenberg is a Senior Investigator in the Inflammation Immunobiology Section of NIAID. Dr. Mark Histed is the Chief of the Unit on Neural Computation and Behavior in the National Institute of Mental Health.
