FREDERICK: OITE Mindfulness Meditation - Practicing Loving-Kindness

Discussion Group/Brown Bag: Personal Development; Wellness

Dec 05, 2019

Speaker(s): Kelly Donahue, PhD, OITE Wellness Advisor
This event is recommended for: Postbacs; Graduate Students; Postdocs/Fellows.

Loving-kindness meditation (or Metta Bhavana) is one of the oldest forms of Buddhist practice, but it can be adapted and done by anyone, regardless of religious, spiritual or secular orientation.  This practice helps us actively cultivate positive emotional states (care, goodwill, warm-hearted feeling) towards ourselves and others, so that we become more accepting, patient, and compassionate.  Research shows that it also brings us 18 different physical and mental health benefits.  Curious about these benefits? Come join us for this week’s meditation. Please arrive a few minutes before the session to sign in and get settled for practice.

Please join us for Mindfulness Meditation with OITE Wellness Advisor, Kelly Donahue at NCI Frederick in Building 549/Conference Room B.  The meditation session provides a welcoming and confidential space to explore positive and proactive ways to build your resilience and self-care skills.
