Loving-kindness meditation (or Metta Bhavana) is one of the oldest forms of Buddhist practice, but it can be adapted and done by anyone, regardless of religious, spiritual or secular orientation.  This practice helps us actively cultivate positive emotional states (care, goodwill, warm-hearted feeling) towards ourselves and others, so that we become more accepting, patient, and compassionate.
