The Mentorship Committee organizes events to provide mentorship to graduate students beyond their primary supervisor. We have two mentor series, ‘Finding Mentors and Building Networks' and ‘PhDs in the Real World', both taking place every second month in the graduate student lounge. For our ‘Finding Mentors and Building Networks' series, we invite two NIH principal investigators during lunch time who provide valuable advice to graduate students on how to succeed in graduate school and beyond. The ‘PhDs in the Real World' series invites speakers including GPP alumni to present their career paths outside of academia. Past lecturers have included data scientists, consultants, and industry professionals. Both series are informal and allow graduate students to ask a lot of questions.
