Job

Postdoctoral Fellow

About the position

Dr. Florencia Pratto’s lab at the Genetics and Biochemistry Branch at NIDDK just opened its doors in January 2024.

A fully funded postdoctoral position is available to investigate the layers of control of meiotic recombination in the human and mouse germline. Our lab focuses on understanding the mechanisms that precisely regulate the location and fate of double-strand breaks that initiate meiotic recombination.

We use cutting-edge genomic approaches, microscopy, and genetics to address two questions:

  1. How does meiotic replication affect meiotic recombination in mammals?
  2. What are the determinants of double-strand break formation and subsequent repair?

As a lab member, you will have the opportunity to lead and co-lead projects, design experiments and gain proficiency in wet and dry laboratory skills. We use various techniques including genome editing, chromatin immunoprecipitation, immunostaining, ChIP-seq, and data analysis tools.
