Post Doctoral Scholar

About the position

Post Doctoral Researcher to pursue specialized research training, education and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the Department of Pathology; plans, designs and executes experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the assigned research lab studying molecular and epigenetic mechanisms in neuronal and non-neuronal cells during chronic exposure to addictive substances; independently designs new analytical approaches and tools; performs experiments; independently develops and troubleshoots new experimental techniques and protocols; collects data and participates in writing grant proposals; participates in writing manuscripts for publication; trains staff in techniques; collaborates and seeks expertise from other labs; attends and presents research at scientific conferences, workshops and seminars; supervise graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory; performs additional duties as assigned. The candidate is expected to have strong organizational, and record keeping skills to record experiment results and analyze data, as well as effective written communication skills to publish results.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree in a neuroscience, cellular/molecular biology field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; Experience in various molecular and cell biology techniques, mouse genetics, mouse behavior, neurobiology, RNA-sequencing/analysis, mouse surgery desired; Strong bioinformatics experience especially with RNA-seq is highly desired.
