Staff Scientist in Nuclear Organization and Gene Expression

Position Description:

The Laboratory of Biochemistry and Genetics, NIDDK, at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is searching for a Staff Scientist who will contribute to fly and mouse neuroscience and will elucidate the role of the conserved Shep and CTCF insulator proteins in both fly and mouse neuronal remodeling. The Staff Scientist will use expertise to develop strategies, methods, and techniques to address the conserved in vivo function and regulation of chromatin insulators during development. The NIH is the world’s largest medical research facility, and the Laboratory of Biochemistry and Genetics is a collaborative and exciting research environment.


Qualifications for this position include a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and a minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral Neuroepigenetics or Cellular Behavioral Neuroscience research experience. A strong publication record using the skills described below is required. Candidates must have extensive experience in both fly and mouse neurodevelopment particularly with respect to the retina and experience with methods to isolate retinal ganglion cells for genomic and chromatin profiling. Expertise in performing transcriptome profiling of wildtype FACS sorted RGCs and profiling mutants as well as performing ATAC-seq and micro-C on samples is preferred.
