Field Applications Scientist (FAS), Imaging

Position Description:
Basic Function

  • The FAS will provide on-site demonstrations of BioTek Imaging products (Cytation 1/3, Lionheart LX/FX, and BioSpa System (BioSpa 8/Cytation 1/5) instruments) in support of sales opportunities.
  • The FAS will provide on-site Imaging product and applications training post-sales.
  • The FAS will provide pre- and post-sales support for other BioTek products, if necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop expert level skills on BioTek Imaging products and Gen5 Imaging software and imaging applications. 
  • Develop advanced level skills with all other BioTek products and Gen5 software packages.
  • Perform on-site customer demonstrations of BioTek Imaging products to assist with sales opportunities.
  • Provide basic on-site training on all Imaging products sold to customers.
  • Provide advanced application training and optimization on all Imaging products for new customers after basic training. Trouble-shoot quantitative imaging assays and optimize customer data.
  • Phone and/or email communication in support of Gen5 Image Plus and Image Prime for customers and sales reps.
  • Work with designated sales reps to provide follow-on product and application training. This training will occur in the field.
  • Participate and represent BioTek at local/regional vendor shows and present seminars and posters concerning BioTek Imaging products and applications.
  • While points 2-7 concerns BioTek Imaging products, if necessary these duties and responsibilities will include other BioTek products.

Education and/or Experience -

  • Requires a postgraduate degree in the Life Sciences which utilized microscopy, or ≥ 5 years experience in a Life Science research role utilizing microscopy.


  • Advanced academic or industrial experience in using microscopy and imaging instrumentation.
  • Advanced to Excellent knowledge of fluorescent imaging, widefield and/or confocal microscopy.
  • Image analysis experience preferred, such as familiarity with ImageJ or alternative image analysis software.
  • Lab experience in designing and optimizing quantitative imaging assays preferred.
  • Moderate to Excellent knowledge of absorbance, fluorescence and luminescent based microplate reader assays gained in academic or industrial lab preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose BioTek Imaging product or application issues.
  • Strong computer skills, data reduction experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong presentation skills.


  • Able to travel within India up to 50-60% of employed hours.
  • Physically able to lift up to 75 - 100 lbs.
