Position Description:

The Scientific Review Program, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking a full time, contract Scientific Review Officer (cSRO) to support the scientific peer review managed by the Program.

The incumbent will be responsible for providing scientific and administrative peer review support to Designated Federal Official (DFO) for grant applications and contract proposals and for facilitating the conduct of multiple concurrent peer review meetings for such grant applications and contract proposals.

The NIH peer review process is the cornerstone of the NIH extramural research mission and plays a critical role in supporting biomedical research and training activities in universities and research institutions in the United States and around the world.

Qualifications:

PhD degree in virology, microbiology or related health sciences with few years of post-doctoral research experience. No peer review management experience is required. The Scientific Review Program has an SRO training program and candidate selected for the position will receive training in scientific peer review management. In addition, applicants must be a US citizen or permanent resident and must be able to pass a background check. The position will be filled through a contract with a staffing agency serving NIAID, NIH.

The positions are located at 5601 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20852 which provides free onsite parking. Twinbrook (Red Line) metro station is within walking distance (0.5 miles).
