Job Description

The Student Experiences Office is home to two ACS premier programs for high school and undergraduate students. Project SEED offers paid, hands-on summer research opportunities and scholarships to economically disadvantaged high school students, while ACS Scholars offers scholarships for underrepresented minority undergraduate students.

This office is seeking an enthusiastic and team-oriented person to serve as ACS Scholars/Project SEED Program Manager. The incumbent will manage scholarship and student engagement components of both programs. This role will require a high level of independence, creativity, process-improvement, and agility as both programs prepare for streamlining initiatives in the near-term. This is ideal for those with a STEM background, interested in shifting career directions away from the bench and towards student and program management, or for someone with ample student program management experience and a STEM interest.


Required Skills

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, written and oral communication and organizational skills required.
  • Strong customer service skills for interaction with students, scholarship selection committees, and stakeholders such as donors.
  • Basic budget managing and high data-set management skills a bonus.

Required Experience

  • Project management experience required; student program management experience preferred
  • Ideal for someone that has experience in academia, government, or industry, and looking to switch careers into non-profit space OR for someone that has extensive experience with managing student-oriented programs
  • Knowledgeable of and capable of advising students on technical research and conference environment
  • Occasional travel will be required (approximately 4-6 trips per year, includes weekends)
  • Graduate degree in a chemical or related science is preferred; may have an advanced degree or equivalent experience.
