Research Associate I/II - Vaccine Research

Position Description:

Medix is a company that is expanding their portfolio to include CAR T technologies, immunotherapies, and autoimmune/infectious disease vaccines. This is a full time opportunity, that allows for upward mobility and cross training.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out general laboratory procedures. Assist in planning preliminary experimental designs;
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with others both within and between departments/teams;
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, summaries and provides input to interpretation of experimental results;
  • Perform two or more of the following techniques: cell culture, virus culture, PCR, plasmid cloning, in vitro analysis, and/or western blotting;
  • Maintain an accurate and complete electronic lab notebook;
  • Update projects progress on a regular basis;
  • Use scientific literature to keep aware of current technologies;
  • Attend and present results at department meetings;
  • May order lab supplies, keep inventory and provide maintenance on lab equipment; may order and distribute critical reagents;
  • Comply with all applicable policies regarding health, safety and the environment;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BS in biological sciences or related area and a minimum of 2-3 years of laboratory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Hands on experience in cell biology, virology, biochemistry, and/or molecular biology;
  • Strong technical skills;
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office;
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to formally present his/her own work to a small group;
  • Good verbal and writing skills - able to convey information in a clear and concise manner; able to write clear and concise technical reports;
  • Organizes work effectively and uses time efficiently;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Self motivated and independently minded;
  • Positive interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with individuals from a variety of levels and function;
  • Self-organizer, meticulous hands-on habits, keen attention to detail;
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills;
  • Responsive, can-do attitude;
  • Can coordinate parallel tasks across multiple projects, demonstrating prioritization;
  • Ability to quickly adapt to a rapidly changing environment and demands;
  • Ability to interpret and effectively execute upon a variety of instructions provided in written.
