Research Assistant Epidemiology (Contractor)

Position Description:

Dr. Montserrat Garcia-Closas is seeking applicants for a research assistant (contractor) position that offers outstanding opportunities for professional development, including contributing to high-impact research. The research assistant will contribute to the project management of the Confluence Project, a large and exciting project that brings together scientists from multiple breast cancer consortia to investigate the genetic architecture of breast cancer and improve risk prediction and prognosis of the disease. The position also offers opportunities to contribute to other breast cancer epidemiology research projects, including assisting with study management, data analysis, generating tables and figures for presentations or publications, and contributing to literature reviews.

Organization Description:
NCI DCEG is the world’s most comprehensive cancer epidemiology research group. The Division carries out its research program to discover the genetic and environmental determinants of cancer and new approaches to cancer prevention with a cadre of in-house researchers and trainees. The scientific operations team within the DCEG Office of the Director aims to provide outstanding support and guidance on scientific, programmatic, and administrative processes and manage Division-wide resources to promote the success of DCEG staff and projects. NCI is an exciting place to work, and the position provides excellent learning opportunities. Pay is commensurate with qualifications. This is a contract position at a government agency in Rockville, Maryland.

Qualifications:

Seeking an individual with either a master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, or a related field, or with comparable experience. The position will involve on-the-job training and is best suited for someone with fewer than five years of experience post-M.P.H./M.S. Given the training involved with the position, we are seeking applicants available for at least a two-year minimum commitment. Excellent writing and oral (English) communication skills are required. Experience in SAS is required and R is highly desired. The job requires excellent organization abilities, attention to details, initiative, an aptitude for multi-tasking, and experience with producing deliverables under tight deadlines.
