Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Medicinal Chemistry-Glycoscience

Position Description:

The Department of BioMolecular Sciences in the School of Pharmacy at The University of Mississippi is seeking qualified applicants for a full time, 12-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The successful candidate will have an established, externally funded research program in the areas of glycoscience, carbohydrate chemistry, glycochemistry and/or chemical biology, as part of the University of Mississippi’s ongoing efforts to expand our research capabilities in glycoscience. The successful candidate will be expected to interact closely with the Glycoscience Center of Research Excellence (GlyCORE), an NIH Center of Biomedical Research Excellence that fosters and supports research in glycoscience through both direct research funding and three fully subsidized research core facilities. These dedicated and staffed research core facilities offer services and instrumentation access including high resolution mass spectrometry, surface plasmon resonance, confocal fluorescence microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, bioinformatics and advanced molecular modeling and simulation. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching medicinal chemistry in a graduate program as well as professional pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program or the potential to provide instruction in these fields. Applicants applying for the higher ranks should have a nationally recognized research program with recurrent success in securing extramural funding and excellent teaching credentials. Applicants from industry with experience in medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, and/or drug design are also encouraged.

Department of BioMolecular Sciences faculty have affiliations with the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and collaborative opportunities in the National Center for Natural Products Research. The department has teaching responsibilities in several degree programs, including the Pharm.D. (Doctor of Pharmacy) as well as M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Medicinal Chemistry, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or a related field as well as post-doctoral experience.
