Postbac Orientation

Join the staff of the Office of Intramural Training & Education (OITE) for an orientation tailored to postbacs. This is a chance for you to meet OITE staff and learn about the resources and activities that can enrich your NIH experience.  Postbac IRTAs/CRTAs and UGSP Scholars who are postbacs are all welcome.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is also an excellent opportunity to meet other new NIH postbacs.

Speaker: Yewon Cheon, PhD, Director, Postbac and Summer Research Programs, OITE, unless otherwise noted.

Please check Upcoming Events on the OITE Web site for time and location.  If you arrive at the NIH between Orientations, contact Dr. Cheon in the OITE for a one-on-one introduction to the NIH.

Here are some other things you should do if you are a new postbac at the NIH:

  • Visit the page that talks about "making the most of your NIH experience" for general ideas on how to plan your time here.
  • Read the page created specifically for NIH postbacs to find hints on NIH resources and career development programming, the NIH Career Services Center, and special events like Postbac Poster Day and the Graduate & Professional School Fair.
  • Check out the Postbac Committee webpage; you may want to join this group to help plan social and/or community service activities, help select the Postbac Distinguished Mentors of the Year, or organize/participate in the Postbac Seminar Series.
