Stem Cell Research and Genome Engineering

FDA Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, Silver Spring, Maryland

Position Description:
A postdoctoral position is available to perform research on genome engineering and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells. By precise genome editing, we aim to understand cellular and molecular mechanisms in development and disease, particularly in the immune and hematopoietic systems. We also use cell engineering techniques to develop novel therapeutic approaches as well as methods for evaluating safety and efficacy of advanced therapies. The laboratory is in the state-of-the-art interdisciplinary research facility at FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research.

The ideal candidate would be a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. degree and a demonstrated record or potential of scientific productivity. Candidates with research experience in molecular cell biology, immunology or developmental biology will receive the strongest consideration. Expertise in common molecular and cell biology techniques is essential. Experience with flow cytometry and small animal handling is desirable. Applicants must have <5 years of postdoctoral experience, and applicants must be US citizens, permanent residents, or current J-1 visa holders. Applicants who have H-1B visas are not eligible for this fellowship.
