Cellular and Molecular Regulation of Interneuron Development

Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, Bethesda, MD and surrounding area

Position Description:
The Unit on Cellular and Molecular Neurodevelopment at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), headed by Dr. Timothy Petros, is seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated postdoctoral candidates to join our laboratory. We are interested in understanding the cellular, molecular and environmental mechanisms that regulate the diversity and maturation of GABAergic interneurons, an incredibly heterogeneous cell population that play a prominent role in all brain function. We utilize a variety of approaches in our lab, including (but not limited to) in utero electroporation, cell transplantations, stem cell culture and differentiation, both population and single cell RNAseq, and numerous approaches to manipulate gene expression.

Qualifications:
A strong background in neurodevelopment, genetics, molecular and cellular biology, mouse surgeries, and/or cell culture is encouraged but not required. We are particularly interested in candidates with significant experience on next generation sequence experiments and analysis. Please visit our lab website for more information about our work (https://science.nichd.nih.gov/confluence/display/petros/Home).

To Apply:
Please email a brief cover letter stating your scientific interests, a CV, and a list of 3 references to Dr. Timothy Petros, tim.petros@nih.gov
