Phenotypic and molecular characterization of neurotrophin and Trk receptor mutant mouse models.

Position Description:
The Neural Development Section (NDS) headed by Dr. Lino Tessarollo has an open post-doctoral position. The candidate should have a background in neurobiology and basic expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, immunoistochemistry and biochemistry. Experience in confocal analysis is desired. The NDS study the biology of neurotrophin and Trk receptors function by using both in vitro and in vivo approaches. Our group makes extensive use of engineered mouse models and cell culture models. The current research emphasis is on understanding the molecular mechanisms by which activated trk receptor function. Specifically, we are dissecting the molecular mechanism responsible for modulating Trk receptors activity including their interaction with specific scaffold proteins and proteins leading to de-activation of Trk signaling. Moreover, we are attempting to identify new signaling pathways activated by truncated Trk receptors.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. or equivalent degree. We are looking for a candidate with strong interest in all aspects of cell signaling and exceptional motivation for academic research. Only outstanding applicants with proven expertise in molecular biology/biochemistry/cell biology and less than 1 year postdoctoral experience will be considered for this position. Good oral and written communication skills are required.
