National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism , Bethesda, MD and surrounding area

Position Description:

The Laboratory of Neurogenetics (LNG), National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is recruiting for a postdoctoral fellow. The laboratory is located in Rockville MD, north of the main NIH intramural campus in Bethesda, MD.

Research at LNG aims to relate genetic variation to complex behavioral phenotypes to identify alleles responsible for alcohol use and psychiatric disorders, and behaviors and processes relevant to addiction. The laboratory utilizes genome-wide genotyping and next-generation sequencing approaches to identify genes altering anxiety/stress response, electrophysiological phenotypes, executive cognitive function, behavioral control and reward, and uses a variety of cell-based approaches, and animal models to functionally validate alleles.
