Position Description:

An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the Precision Health Informatics Section (PHIS), a new section in the Medical Genomics and Metabolic Genetics Branch (MGMGB) at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) in Bethesda, Maryland under Dr. Josh Denny

The successful candidates will develop and apply novel, robust and scalable computational algorithms that can analyze, integrate, discover clinically relevant associations from large cohorts that have both clinical, participant-reported, and genomic data. Interested related applications include data from technologies like GWAS, whole exome and genome associations, EHR data, laboratory data, and survey data. Successful candidates will be familiar with applications of informatics to EHR data, statistical approaches, genomic data analysis, machine learning, and/or data science. There is also opportunity to develop novel methods to model biologic and clinical processes using historical and molecular data.  However, research topics are not limited to the above, and candidates with different topics of interest are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have or be very close to obtaining a Ph.D. in biomedical informatics or bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, genetics, computational biology or closely related areas. Programming skill and statistical knowledge are required. Excellent communication skills and fluency in both spoken and written English are essential.
