Bioinformatics – Emerging Viruses

Position Description:

We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow with extensive sequence analysis expertise to join an interdisciplinary team within the laboratory and the NIAID Vaccine Research Center.  Research projects will investigate genetic diversity and evolution of emerging viruses using a combination of custom long-read and short-read sequencing approaches.


  • Doctoral degree in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Immunology/Microbiology, or related discipline.
  • Detailed understanding of sequencing principles, methods, and analysis tools.
  • At least 2 years analyzing NGS data, including Pacific Biosciences data.
  • Proficiency with Unix shell scripting/R and use of command-line tools.
  • Proficiency with Python/Perl.
  • Experience setting up analysis pipelines and scripts.
