Chalk Talks for Faculty Interviews

The chalk talk is an important component of many faculty interviews. This talk is an opportunity to share your research plans in depth and respond to the committee's questions. In this workshop, learn tips to improve your chalk talk by preparing appropriately, including the right amount of detail, and using the board well for key visuals.

Note: While we understand that some other types of interviews may include chalk talks, this workshop is specifically geared toward academic faculty job interviews.

This is an interactive workshop with a short lecture and frequent audience participation. The last portion of this workshop will be a presentation of a mock chalk talk from Dr. Macfarlan with NIH faculty serving as the "interviewers".
