The Laboratory of Neuroimaging (LNI), led by Nora D. Volkow, M.D., in the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), is now seeking a highly-motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our team at the NIH Clinical Research Center in Bethesda, MD.
About the position
This position will focus on radiotracer development & preclinical neuroimaging research in substance use disorders. This prospective fellow will contribute to the advancement of radiotracers and the application of positron emission tomography (PET) in animal models, particularly for alcohol and opioid use disorders. Key responsibilities include of this position include researching the design, synthesis, bioassay, and radiolabeling of small molecules and the conducting of preclinical PET imaging and data analysis, both leading to publications.

Qualifications
Prospective candidates should have a Ph.D. in chemistry, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, and/or a related field and be within 5 years of earning their degree. Candidates should have a strong interest in neuroimaging research and radiotracer development, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates should also have a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Prior experience in organic synthesis, bioassay, radiochemistry, or brain research with animals is advantageous. However, training opportunities are available for motivated candidates who wish to develop these skills.
