Job

Postdoctoral Fellow

The NIH NIAAA Section of Neural Circuits is now seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join their team.

About the position

The NIAAA Section of Neural Circuits investigates how genetic and environmental factors alter brain circuits in autism, epilepsy, and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, with the goal of developing novel therapeutic strategies for neurodevelopmental disorders.

This NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available for up to five years. Research projects in the laboratory will focus on the functional analysis of neural network activity in both ex vivo and in vivo systems, the role of immune factors in the brain and peripheral circulation in mouse models of neurodevelopmental disorders, and the use of cell cultures derived from human embryonic stem cells and other human cell-based models. Additional projects may include the analysis of large-scale clinical and genomic datasets from individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders.

Applicants with more than three years of experience in brain slice electrophysiology, confocal microscopy, mouse behavioral analysis, single-cell sequencing and bioinformatics, cell culture techniques, and/or multielectrode array (MEA) recordings are strongly encouraged to apply. Preferably, candidates with display strong quantitative, computational, and data analysis skills.
