Job

Postdoctoral Position (Alzheimer’s Disease RNA Transcriptomics)

The Cruchaga Lab of the NeuroGenomics and Informatics Center at Washington University is seeking a Postdoc to study circular RNA Transcriptomics associated with Alzheimer's Disease.

About the position

The Cruchaga Lab has demonstrated that circular RNAs are associated with Alzheimer’s disease progression and may be used as disease biomarkers when measured in the blood. Now, we have generated brain and blood transcriptomic data in thousands of samples with several neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and other dementias. We are hiring a Postdoc to work with RNA-seq data and identify circRNAs implicated in the complex traits of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and stroke, by using novel and integrative computational and statistical analyses.

Prospective candidates will hold a PhD in statistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics, Medical Statistics, Mathematics or similar. They should also have a strong background in second-generation RNA sequencing analyses with focus on circular RNAs, pathways analyses, and/or biomarker discovery. Knowledge of GWAS analyses (PLINK and SKAT-O), and of multivariate and mixed model analyses is strongly recommended. Potential candidates should have strong analytical skills and be motivated to join our effort in generating novel insights of neurodegeneration using this unique dataset. Postdocs candidates will work in dynamic multidisciplinary and collaborative environment and join a large team of twenty members, led by three faculty members and three senior scientists.

This position is eligible for full-time benefits, found here. More information on being a postdoc at Washington University in St. Louis can be found here. The Washington University School of Medicine is renowned for its neurodegenerative disorders research cohorts, which include clinical, neuroimaging, and fluid biomarker cores.
