Job
Postdoctoral Fellow (Cell Biology)
Organization
NIH/NCI/CCR, Frederick, MD
Scientific focus area
Cancer Biology, Cell Biology
The Loncarek lab at the Center for Cancer Research, National Institutes of Health, in Frederick, Maryland are seeking Postdoctoral Fellows.
About the position
Successful candidates will explore the molecular mechanisms that govern centrosome and centriole assembly in human cells. Our lab explores how centrosome assembly steps are coordinated with other cell cycle events, and how this coordination is perturbed in pathologies such as cancer. We are keenly interested in elucidating the role of Polo-like kinase 1 in the centriole cycle and centrosome copy control and in understanding how centrosomes and centrosome-associated processes go awry in cancer. Our experimental approaches range from cutting-edge microscopy (including live, super-resolution, expansion, and electron microscopy) to high-content transcriptomics, biochemical and molecular biology, and proteomics. Successful candidates will conduct research in a vibrant, collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment and will benefit from outstanding research infrastructure. They will participate in ongoing novel projects and in collaborative efforts with our colleagues both inside and outside NIH.
