Job

Postbaccalaureate Fellow

The Neuman Lab at the NIH National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute is now recruiting a full time Postbaccalaureate Fellow to join our team.

About the position

Our group studies how essential bacterial enzymes, specially type II topoisomerases (DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV), locate, cleave, and resolve DNA entanglements throughout the genome. These enzymes are major targets of antibacterial drugs, and our goal is to uncover mechanisms that could guide future antibiotic drug development.

Potential postbac projects will combine biochemistry, enzymology, next generation sequencing (SHAN seq, MNase seq, ChIP seq), single molecule optical and magnetic tweezers, and the computational analysis of DNA cleavage and binding patterns.

This position is ideal for students planning to pursue Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or M.D. programs who want deep research experience before graduate or medical school.
