The laboratory of Dr. Jonathan Bromberg at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, in Baltimore, MD, is now seeking a postdoctoral research associate to join their team.
About the position
Our laboratory is looking for a postdoctoral research associate to study lymph node structure, signaling, and microenvironment regulation, in efforts to advance our development of lymph node immunotherapies.
Our lab studies multiple aspects of lymph node immunology and function. First, we study how regulatory T-Cells and Lymphatic Endothelial Cells interact. To this end, we have identified the signaling pathways responsible for regulating T-Cell migration through lymphatic endothelia. Specifically, we have discovered that LTαβ–LTβR, NIK, and PD-1/PD-L1 signaling coordinate regulatory T-Cell trans-endothelial migration, stability, and suppressive function, and have thus revealed novel mechanisms that may be therapeutically targetable.
Second, we investigate how fibroblastic reticular cells regulate lymph node architecture. We have successfully identified multiple mechanisms by which fibroblastic reticular cells remodel lymph node microenvironments by inducing either inflammation or immune-suppression. We hope that these findings can help us improve lymph node organ transplant outcomes, as the lymph node microenvironment is a major contributor to post-transplant patient survival. Similarly, we are also exploring how gut microbiota shape lymph node immune responses and impact post-transplant survival.
Additionally, our lab has also developed bio-material platforms to deliver immuno-modulatory molecules directly to lymph nodes. More specifically, we utilize biodegradable particles, controlled-release depots, and dissolvable iPEMs micro-needle patches to induce lymph node immune responses. In our preclinical models of multiple sclerosis, our methods have resulted in durable disease reversal and thus demonstrated a robust therapeutic potential for engineered Lymph node biomaterial platforms.

Qualifications
Prospective applicants should have a PhD in immunology, molecular biology and/or related fields. Expertise with in vitro and in vivo techniques for various cell types, lines, and murine experimentation is highly desirable.
