Job

Postdoctoral Fellow

The Laboratory of Chromosome Dynamics and Evolution, led by Dr. Takashi Akera, is seeking a highly motivated postdoc to join our Evolutionary Cell Biology lab to study genetic cheating and its consequences on reproduction and speciation using mouse models.

About the position

Join the Takashi Akera Lab at the NIH for a fully-funded 5-year postdoc position to explore how selfish genetic elements subverts Mendel’s Law of Segregation to increase their transmission via associated impacts on female fertility.

Our Research Areas include chromosome dynamics during cell division, the evolution of female meiosis, the transmission bias by selfish genetic elements, and the cell-biological basis of species barrier models (using mice, including multiple non-model species).
