Post doctoral fellow

The Laboratory of Heart Disease Phenomics Heart Disease Phenomics, NHLBI/NIH is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join a multidisciplinary research program focused on the molecular, and environmental determinants of cardiometabolic diseases. The successful candidate will work at the interface of epidemiology, molecular biology, and computational science, leveraging large, deeply phenotyped cohorts and state-of-the-art biomarkers (including metabolomics, proteomics).

About the position

The fellow will lead team-based, collaborative projects aimed at identifying important novel biomarkers, understanding disease mechanisms, and developing integrative models of risk of disease occurrence and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design of studies, data analyses, and manuscript preparation.
  • Conduct molecular epidemiology analyses integrating multi-omics and clinical phenotypes.
  • Design and execute statistical and computational workflows for large-scale datasets.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, bioinformaticians, and external partners.
  • Present findings at national and international scientific meetings.

Qualifications

PhD, MD-MPH, or equivalent degree in epidemiology, molecular biology, biostatistics, computational biology, or a related field. Strong quantitative skills and experience with statistical programming (e.g., R, Python, SAS). Experience with large-scale omics or population-based datasets is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively while being self-directed. A strong publication record commensurate with career stage.
