Job

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

The laboratory of Dr. Jingyue Jia Cassano in the Department of Internal Medicine, School of Medicine, at the University of New Mexico is seeking highly motivated and self-driven Postdoctoral Fellows to join our research team.

About the position

The UNM is a public research university in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is the state's oldest university and flagship academic institution. Albuquerque, is the most populous city in the U.S. state of NM. The city is flanked by the Sandia Mountains and the West Mesa , with the Rio Grande flowing north-to-south through the middle of the city. It is a hub for technology and media companies, historic landmarks, and the fine arts and home to the International Balloon Fiesta.

The Jia Cassano Lab studies the roles of cellular stress responses in human diseases, with a particular focus on understanding the mechanisms and functions of cellular responses to lysosomal stress, as well as the regulation and functions of biomolecular condensates in lysosomal stress responses and disease.

Our research integrates cell biology, molecular biology, and cutting-edge technologies, including large-scale genomic, proteomic, and cellomic analyses, as well as advanced live-cell and high-resolution imaging approaches. We use a range of cellular and tissue models to investigate how cells sense and respond to lysosomal damage, how stress-induced biomolecular condensates are formed and regulated, and how these cellular responses influence human disease.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative research environment and contribute to exciting projects at the intersection of lysosome biology, cellular stress responses, biomolecular condensates, and human disease.
