Job

Postdoctoral Fellow

Focus area: Quantitative Systems Immunology

About the position

A postdoctoral fellowship is available at the National Institute on Aging, NIH, for investigating systems and dynamic basis of immune cell fate decision. We developed novel reporter mouse strains, quantitative live cell imaging methods, and chromatin assays to examine how individual immune cells respond to various stimuli with lineage and ligand specificity. The successful applicant will work in the laboratory of Myong-Hee (Mia) Sung located in the Baltimore campus (https://irp.nih.gov/pi/myong-hee-sung).

We are seeking highly motivated recent Ph.D. scientists interested in applying systems cell biology approaches to fundamental problems in immunology, neuroinflammation, and aging.

Relevant publications from the lab include

  • Sung MH et al. PLoS One 2009 (PMID: 19787057);
  • Sung MH et al. Sci Signal 2014 (PMID: 24425788);
  • Oh KS et al. Immunity 2017 (PMID: 28801231);
  • Rahman SMT et al. Cell Rep 2022 (PMID: 36417863);
  • Aqdas M and Sung MH. Trends Immunol 2023 (PMID: 36473794);
  • Rahman SMT et al. Cell Rep 2024 (PMID: 38483906).

An ideal candidate will have a strong interest in utilizing quantitative approaches, some experience with microscopy, and an understanding of (or a strong motivation to learn) basic immunology.
