About the position
Applicant will develop a novel drosophila model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis based on incorporation of human endogenous retroviral elements. The purpose of the model is to study disease pathophysiology and develop therapeutics. This position is being created as part of a collaboration between the laboratories of Dr. Quan Yuan who studies neuroplasticity in drosophila (https://irp.nih.gov/pi/quan-yuan) and Dr. Avi Nath who studies the role of retroviral elements in neurodegeneration (https://irp.nih.gov/pi/avindra-nath).

Qualifications
Suitable candidates must have a PhD in Neuroscience, Genetics or Cell Biology, high proficiency in written and spoken English and passion for high impact science.
