University of Miami Postdoctoral Scholar

The University of Miami is now seeking a scholar to join the Cross-Disciplinary Research Opportunity for Training (CrossROADS) program to conduct translational research in Alzheimer’s Disease and AD Related Disorders.

About the position

The Cross-Disciplinary Research Opportunity for Training (CrossROADS) program is a National Institute of Aging funded 2 year Institutional Research Training program organized to provide evidence-based postdoctoral research training, increase the scientific Alzheimer's Disease workforce, and address related healthcare challenges. We are now seeking scholars from multiple disciplines to conduct translational research as part of our program.

CrossROADS scholars are expected to conduct and complete a mentored, Alzheimer's-related research project within the two years of program participation. Each applicant will have a lead mentor, and may have a co-mentor(s). These mentors will facilitate and promote the scholar’s research and interactions with other trainees, researchers, and training programs.

With guidance from mentors, scholars are also expected to create an Individual Development Plan, give presentations, and participate in other program-related activities.

Qualifications

To be eligible for the CrossROADS program, applicants must have a clinical doctorate (M.D., DMD, DVM, PharmD, etc.), Ph.D. degree, or an equivalent in a health-related sciences. They must also be a citizen of the United States or a non-citizen national lawfully admitted for permanent residence. They should be willing and able to commit to a full-time professional effort dedicated to participation in our program (Full time is defined as 40 hours per week, twelve months a year). Prospective scholars will also have to propose their research project and should as such have a strong interest in developing a career in Alzheimers Disease or Related Disorders research.

Lastly, our program allows an additional 25% of time effort (~10 hours a week) to be committed to part-time research, teaching, and/or clinical employment, as long as these activities do not interfere with, or lengthen, the two year training duration, in efforts to encourage further professional development on behalf of our scholars.
