Research Grants Manager

The Research Grants Manager is a member of the Applied Research & Evaluation (ARE) team within Komen’s Mission division. The ARE team supports Komen’s role as an evidence-based organization by transforming data into meaningful intelligence that will guide program strategy, convey Komen’s research impact and contribute to the body of scientific evidence about breast cancer to fuel scientific discoveries and improve breast cancer outcomes for all. 

The primary objectives of the Research Grants Manager are to:

• Provide scientific expertise through management of assigned research grants that make up the grant portfolio.
• Manage the research grant process from application and peer review to contracting and grant initiation to post-award management of the funded award.
• Support grantee engagement efforts to foster relationships with our past and presently funded researchers.
• Assess the outcomes and impact of Komen’s research portfolio.
• Support communications efforts to illustrate Komen’s impact in research funding.

• Doctoral Degree in cancer biology or other biomedical science degree. 
• 2-5 years of postdoctoral fellowship experience and publication history in breast cancer research.
• Understanding of the research funding landscape, grant application and peer review processes, and grants management concepts.
• Experience conducting evaluation, data collection techniques, and data analysis
• Excellent organizational and project management skills required to manage a large, complex workflow with multiple deadlines, data points, and priorities.
• Exceptional writing and speaking skills required, with ability to communicate scientific concepts to a lay audience (internal and external).
• Shows positive approach to work, flexibility, cultural awareness, sensitivity to relationships, security, and confidentiality.
• Must have excellent and instinctive service and customer relationship skills.
• Ability to travel up to 25%
