Job

Staff Clinician

The Hematology Consult Service, NHLBI, is seeking a staff clinician to serve as an attending physician for our consult service. The clinician will evaluate and manage patients with complex hematologic disorders, supervise and educate trainees, and may conduct additional attending responsibilities for the care of other hematology patients within the NIH Clinical Center.

About the position

The mission of the NHLBI is to perform scientific and clinical research that furthers our understanding of clinical pathology and the biology of molecular, cellular, and organ-level systems as they relate to disease. Our unit, The Hematology Consult Service, conducts consultative hematology evaluations and research for diseases that affect blood coagulation, bleeding and clotting conditions, blood transfusion, blood immune and non-immune cytopenias, and blood cancers. Specific evaluations and projects aim to answer clinically relevant questions using methods ranging from molecular level studies up to and including clinical laboratory assessments involving coagulation, bleeding, clotting, clonal disorders, marrow failure, and hematologic dysfunction. We have built a strong basic science foundation and coupled it with innovative technology development and clinical research at both the NIH Clinical Center and partnering with local hospitals.
