The NIDDK Liver Diseases Branch, Immunology Section, is recruiting a Staff Scientist. Our section studies diseases of the gut and liver by investigating how microbiota regulate immune responses and chronic inflammation. Our research arms to devise strategies to modulate protective immune responses and slow the progression of chronic diseases. We conduct translational research using preclinical models and clinical protocols that leverage patient biospecimens.
About the position
Potential candidates are expected to conduct studies on natural microbiota in preclinical models relevant to gastrointestinal and liver disease, cancer, and metabolism and thus advance NIDDK’s research on liver, digestive, metabolic, and immune-mediated diseases. Responsibilities will include the performance and planning of laboratory work, including the maintenance of natural microbiota mouse colonies, and the development of new laboratory techniques. Potential candidates will also support translational NIH study protocols and actively contribute to collaborative projects throughout the year via experimentation, analysis, and technical expertise. Lastly, new hires will be expected to mentor trainees, provide hands-on training to other lab members as needed, and maintain knowledge of current safety, regulatory, and institutional procedures.
