Staff Scientist (Deputy Chief/Animal Program Director)

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences of the National Institutes of Health is searching for a Deputy Chief/Deputy Animal Program Director in the Comparative Medicine Branch.

About the position

This Deputy Chief position has a supervisory responsibility of managing section heads within the Comparative Medicine Branch and will serve on the NIEHS Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (ACUC), as well as other committees as directed by the CMB Chief. This Staff Scientist will be expected to participate in independent and collaborative research, and will work with the CMB Chief to resolve pertinent branch issues and challenges. The Deputy Chief will participate in long-term strategic planning processes to develop and implement effective branch goals. They will also direct the animal care program and provide animal management recommendations directly to the CMB Chief.

This position is classified as a Title 42 (g) Staff Scientist 1 within the Division of Intramural Research.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • A DVM/VMD from an AVMA-accredited or approved college or university
  • A current license to practice veterinary medicine in any state in the United States
  • A board certification by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine.
