Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is now recruiting an associate staff scientist to serve as the scientific and operational anchor for our GENESIS Cell and Gene Therapy program.
About the position
This associate staff scientist will be expected to conduct advanced hands-on research within our program while also ensuring our initiative's milestones, meetings, and documentation infrastructure function at the highest level. Prospective candidates should have in-depth conceptual and applied expertise in cell and gene therapy research, as well as proficiency in cell and molecular biology techniques and analytical platforms. A familiarity with virtual protocol and results documentation systems will be preferred.
This staff scientist will need to execute complex tasks with minimal supervision, such as designing, executing, and interpreting laboratory experiments, critically evaluating scientific protocols, and independently refining new assays and protocols relevant to our cell and gene therapy programs. Staff scientists will also be asked to present actionable insights and recommendations to our program leadership and the scientific Steering Committee.
To this end, this staff scientist will need to maintain accurate, detailed, and reproducible records of all laboratory work in order to advance program milestones against independently verified go/no-go criteria, prepare progress summaries, and flag risks for Steering Committee review. This individual may also be asked to manage the 'C> seminar series', program meetings, and other engagements, as well as support application review logistics during program selection cycles.
Training and mentoring junior laboratory personnel will also be requirement of this position, as will the need to draft, write, and edit scientific reports, journal articles, abstracts, and program updates for publication. Presenting our research at local, national, and international scientific meetings will also be a responsibility.

Qualifications
Prospective applicants should have a PhD in a relevant biomedical science discipline and 3+ years of post-doctoral or equivalent research experience in cell/gene therapy, molecular biology, or a related field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to present scientific and operational content to diverse audiences, will be required.
