Tetonic AI helps companies, universities, and consortia pursue funding from advanced R&D agencies, primarily ARPA-H and DARPA. We are seeking a part-time Technical Program Consultant to help clients develop ambitious R&D programs and competitive proposals. Former SETAs and federal R&D technical advisors are strongly encouraged to apply.

About the position

This is a fully remote, part-time consulting role starting at approximately 10–15 hours per week, with a potential path to full-time.

The Technical Program Consultant will work directly with clients pursuing ambitious R&D programs and funding opportunities from agencies including ARPA-H and DARPA. Responsibilities include:

  • Shape ambitious but achievable R&D concepts and proposals
  • Provide technical feedback and help develop proposal materials
  • Build consortia by sourcing and evaluating potential partners and technologies across biotechnology and hard-tech fields
  • Design project structures, budgets, milestones, and deliverables
  • Help clients navigate government-specific requirements and nuances of federal R&D funding opportunities
  • Manage complex projects involving diverse technical and organizational stakeholders under tight deadlines

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate is a former DARPA or ARPA-H SETA or technical advisor who has supported program managers through program design, technical evaluation, source selection, performer management, or related activities. Candidates with comparable experience at other federal R&D agencies will also be considered.

Required/desired qualifications:

  • Strong technical writing, communication, and proposal-review skills
  • Ability to assess complex scientific and engineering concepts outside one's primary domain
  • Experience with government R&D programs, program development, technical evaluation, or project/program management
  • Ability to work independently and manage fast-moving projects with minimal direction
  • Strong professionalism and ability to work directly with demanding clients and diverse stakeholders

Preferred:

  • PhD with domain expertise in biotechnology, health, AI, sensing, robotics, energy, or another hard-tech field
