About this event
About the NIH trainee population
The NIH Graduate and Professional School Fair brings together trainees participating in the NIH Postbac Program, the NIH Summer Internship Program and other college and university students who are considering pursuing graduate or professional school. They are a diverse population, representing educational institutions across the United States. They typically have (or will) completed extensive undergraduate coursework in the sciences and a variety of research and/or clinical experiences. Our trainees are interested in pursuing Master’s, PhD, MD, DO, MPH, and DDS degrees, as well as combined degrees (MD/PhD, PhD/MPH, etc). In recent years they have matriculated in programs in the biomedical sciences, engineering, chemistry, public health, clinical psychology, genetic counseling, pharmacy, medicine, nursing, and dentistry.
There is no fee to attend, however exhibitors are responsible for their own travel and food costs.
Event format
The NIH Graduate & Professional School Fair consists of:
- Panel and short lecture sessions that provide recommendations for getting into graduate and/or professional school.
- In-person exhibitor sessions. The exhibitor sessions are your opportunity to meet and speak with students and trainees.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Are there limits on the number of exhibit sessions to register for?
Each exhibiting program may only sign up for one exhibitor time session (either morning or afternoon). Registration is on a first-come, first-serve.
How many people can represent our program?
There is no limit on the number of representatives, however registration requires contact information for only one representative. For the event, we will provide only two chairs per exhibit, so some individuals may need to stand during the event. As we get closer to the event, we will send a survey to collect the names of all representatives attending the event. This is necessary to facilitate the security process and access to the NIH campus.
