FAES Science Insight Series: Leveraging Data Science to Advance Maternal and Child Health Research

Dr. Quynh Nguyen, Ph.D., MSPH., Investigator at the National Institute of Nursing Research and Director of the Hashtag Health Lab, is presenting her research as part of the FAES Science Insight Series.

This event will be held in person on May 21st, 2026 from 11:45 to 1pm.

The FAES Science Insight Series invites Principal Investigators, Senior Scientists, and Senior Clinicians to share their cutting-edge research and developments within their fields. Each session includes a 20-30 minute presentation followed by a Q&A and/or journal club discussion aiming to foster deep insights and scholarly exchange. Lunch will be provided on a first come first served basis.

Dr. Nguyen will lead a discussion on harnessing data science to better understand and address maternal and child health disparities. She will highlight examples from her own research, including her development and evaluation of an AI-powered health education chatbot to improve maternal and infant health outcomes. She will also share her work using advanced computer vision techniques to analyze street view imagery and investigate built environment associations with health outcomes, such as motor vehicle collision fatalities among children.
