ENGLISH COMMUNICATION FOR VISITING SCIENTISTS

Would you like to become more comfortable speaking English? The OITE offers a two-day basic spoken English class for trainees who have been in the United States less than one year. This class will be delivered every spring and fall.

During the course we:

  • Discuss strategies for successful communication, especially in the scientific workplace
  • Explore US culture, common greetings, etiquette, and diversity
  • Practice English conversation in a variety of scientific settings and roles
  • Explore resources to help trainees continue to improve their English during their time at NIH

Participants need to be able to commit to both days of class. PI approval is required - a consent form will be sent to you after you register.

If you have any questions about this course, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Sharolyn Kawakami-Schulz.

Please see the "upcoming events" section of this website for course dates and to register.

This class is currently being offered in Bethesda. We are continuing to expand our efforts to bring programming to other campuses. Participants from Baltimore, Frederick, and other NIH sites in the Bethesda area are encouraged to attend in Bethesda.
