Responsible Conduct of Research: Full-Day Course for Postbacs and Graduate Students (Virtual)

The NIH has created a course specifically for recently arrived first year postbacs and grad students (i.e., GPP students) that will use lectures, group discussions and case studies to explore the principles of research ethics. Certificates will be awarded to those who complete the course.

We will cover both the principles of research ethics and ethics in action. Among the topics we will be covering are:

• Overview of research ethics (current topics and historical studies)
• Formal research misconduct (falsification, fabrication, and plagiarism)
• Ethical research involving animal models and human subjects
• Data acquisition and management
• Practical applications of ethical principles in the lab or clinic

Note: This training is required only once per training period.

NIH Intramural trainees who do not have access to their NIH email address should contact OITE to register for this training.
