The Unit on Cellular Stress in Development and Diseases (UCSDD), in the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), conducts clinical, translational, and bench research in rare neurologic conditions, currently including CLN3 (Juvenile Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis) and MEHMO syndrome (Mental disability, Epilepsy, Hypopituitarism/Hypogonadism, Microcephaly, Obesity).
About the position
UCSDD is soliciting applications from post-doctoral level scientists interested in the following: Developing and implementing molecular, biochemical, and multi-omic approaches to assess how cellular stresses affect cellular development and human disease pathophysiology. Areas of focus include cellular stress responses that regulate mRNA transcription and translation. Knowledge of cellular biology and previous experience with performing experiments to evaluate the integrated stress response pathway and analyzing multi-omic data sets are highly desirable. Experience with induced pluripotent stem cells, iPSC-derived cells or organoids, and transcriptomic technology is also desired. NICHD provides excellent support core facilities. Additional information and useful links about post-doctoral fellowship training positions at the NIH can be found at https://www.training.nih.gov/resources/faqs/postdoc_irp. Staff Scientist I
The RNA Molecular Biology Laboratory (RMBL) studies the impact of RNA binding proteins (RBPs) on posttranscriptional gene regulation (PTGR). PTGR summarizes various processes acting upon coding and non-coding RNA and includes RNA maturation, ribonucleoprotein (RNP) assembly, transport, translation, and turnover. Members of the RMBL focus on elucidating the function and molecular mechanisms of RNA binding proteins involved in RNA transport, RNA stability and turnover, and RNA translation.
